In April, 2021, we opened the doors to our new Serbian studio, located in the iconic Beogradanka building in Belgrade’s city center. What began with a small core team of gaming industry veterans has grown into one of the region’s biggest studios. With a talented mix of artists, engineers, and product leaders, we are creating some of the most engaging mobile apps in the world as we work to change the face of casual gaming.
While many tech and creative companies have settled into a permanent hybrid work model, most of us still prefer coming into the office every day. Why? Because we have so much fun being together. We love our hallway chats, our daily lunches, and our panoramic view of the entire city. Our studio is so much more than just another downtown workplace. It is a pillar of our local gaming community – a place for meetups, conferences, workshops, game jams, and other joyous gatherings.
Our playMAKERS like to say that our studio culture mirrors the excitement, energy, and enthusiasm of a kindergarten classroom. We take our work seriously and love what we do, but we also find the time to celebrate, hang out, learn each other’s interests, and enjoy a board game with an after-hours beer (or two). Our studio is living proof that those who play together, stay together.
We do love our offices – but we also like to play outside. One of the ways we enrich the lives of our playMAKERS is by attending offsite events like lectures, workshops, and networking mixers. In addition to our monthly team building activities, each year we plan field trips for the whole studio that gives us the opportunity to learn a bit more about each other, relax together, and freshen up for the challenges ahead.
PLAYSTUDIOS Europe is an active member of the Serbian Games Association. We are always looking for new ways to nurture this creative and technical ecosystem by organizing events, hosting lectures and workshops, and sharing best practices. We are supporting our peers, indie developers, educational institutions, and student organizations by creating opportunities for learning and growth. Our studio is open for visits, and we welcome everyone who is interested in our industry or in our work.
We often volunteer for public service projects, finding ways to help those in need and to support others who do good. One of our favorite activities is charity sports tournaments, and our dream teams regularly compete to raise money and awareness for good causes. We are especially proud of our playMAKER basketball team who routinely thrash their competition.
We do play a lot, but we are serious about our people. We believe that we climb highest when we climb together, and we do so by supporting each other on the way up. We appreciate each other’s efforts, we create space for learning and growth, and we allow everyone to make an impact. We put our heart into the game, and aspire to play with others who do the same – so we seek people who will raise our bar in everything we do.
